The colour purple in the lush streets of Erskineville.

One of the prettier and less known streets to find the Jacaranda trees in Sydney. The lovely Ashmore Street in Erskineville is a perfect spot to add to the list of locations to see the colour purple. With the trees lining both sides of the road in sections, it creates a contrasting purple and green canopy that is great spot for a few pictures.

The street itself runs for two hundred meters or so starting from the busy Erskineville train station, then heads up to the main road of Erskineville.

It’s pretty rare to see both sides of the road with the jacaranda trees, and when they do it’s a pretty special site and well worth a photo shoot. The nice mix of the green and purple are made even better by the fact that the street runs east to west, so you can really make good use of the morning or afternoon sun.

Along the southern side of the street are the beautiful old Sydney terrace homes. And the mix of that old but trendy Sydney scene is quite unique when you add the purple to the streetscape. Even when the purple flowers fall onto the Sydney street, they add to charm that is jacaranda season.

My favourite from the photoshoot is this last picture above. With the fallen flowers from the tree covering the street and the afternoon light hitting the lightly textured Erskineville home and its garage it’s a great looking scene that only comes around once a year.

If you’re looking for places in Sydney to see the Jacaranda trees, I’d definitely recommend the colourful streets of Erskineville.

Til next time!

Chris
