It’s not every day you get asked to be the best man at your great friend’s Wedding, and even more rarer that you get to travel to Italy.
But back in 2007 and long before this whole Chasing Light thing, I was off to one of my favourite ever expeditions.
My trek started in Sydney, then to London then another flight to Italy landing in Milan.
It was then a bus trip to the train station and about four hours on the train to the sea side town of Porto Venere to where the festivities were to be held.
It was also before we had the internet in our pockets and I remember whists on my journey I wish I had studied Italian in High School instead of Spanish.

But despite my lack of education in the language, I somehow made it there ok and back home all in one piece.
The town itself Porto Venere was just unbelievable. It’s everything you’d imagine the coastal towns of Italy to be. The water is just magical but mixed in with the contrast of the pastel coloured buildings it makes for some great picture taking.
It’s holidays like this that really encouraged me to kick off this blog and explore more of photography and everything that comes with it.

Given the chance I’d definitely recommend a trip here and to the surrounding areas. Hopefully I’ll get back there again one day and spend some more time exploring this beautiful place camera in hand.
TIL next time!
