Bronte beach and a winter sunrise

We are finally down to the second last weekend of winter. It feels like it’s been a colder and long winter then we’ve had before, it’s it’s nice to finally see the finish line.

But as cold as it’s been the sunrises lately have just been perfect. It’s by far my favourite time of year for a sunrise and sunset shoot, as the sky is super clear and hardly a cloud in sight.

This morning it was Bronte beach’s turn for a run and a photo and it definitely didn’t disappoint on the colour factor. The northern end makes for a great angle with the cliffs still in shadow and just a few homes with the lights on really make for a nice viewpoint.

It will be a welcome change in a few weeks when the weather starts to warm up, but in the meantime there’s a few more winter light to find.

Til next time!

Golden Sunset over the Sydney Opera House

A couple of weeks ago I took up the challenge of running my first ever City to Surf fun run.

With 3 weeks before game day I thought I should start to train for it. Those Sydney hills need at least some preparation I thought.

So I joined an awesome running club, and just by great luck we meet at the stairs opposite the Opera House.

Arriving a little early the clear skies and golden light just started to hit the beautiful Sydney skyline. Lucky I had my camera handy, as I was gifted probably the best sunset of my career.

I was fortunate to spend around 20 minutes shooting away as the sun was on its way over the horizon. The blues turned to orange then to reds then to black during that time.

It was over so quickly but I was lucky to fire away some pretty awesome shots as it just got better and better.

I’m so grateful to live in our city, and when nights like this it’s just a great time to be a photographer. I guess it pays to have your camera handy even if you’re just going for a run.

Good times in the city.

Bronte Beach and a Winter Sunrise

There’s not too many better spots in Sydney to see a beautiful sunrise.

And one of my favourites is in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, the stunning Bronte beach and its famous pool.

With a shorter coastline than most other beaches, and with the bonus of the rock pool it definitely makes for some great pictures.

It might not be as famous as Bondi, which is just a little to the north of here. But it’s definitely worth adding to your list of sunrise locations in Sydney.

I’m sure I’ll be back a few more times here, and hopefully the light is as awesome as it was today.

Til next time!
