New York’s famous Brooklyn Bridge as the sun sets

Back in the summer of 2012 I had the awesome oportunity to tick off a massive bucket list item. Photographing New York’s famous Brooklyn Bridge via sunset.

The tour started on the New York side of the Brooklyn Bridge so I was able to shoot along the way as I crossed the bridge. It’s about a 2km walk or around 30 minutes, so ample opportunity to sight see and take some pictures in daylight.

On the Brooklyn side of the bridge there are some great angles to explore, from memory I spent a good couple of hours wandering about and taking a few wrong turns. But managed to find a few great viewpoints. Knowing I’d be shooting as the sun sets it was great to find the best one to attempt a cool nighttime shot.

It definitely helped that it was also the 4th of July at the time, so the added benefit of some cool fireworks going off in the background was just awesome. I’d love to get back there and scope of some other angles, especially on the New York City side of the Brooklyn Bridge. Whenever I shoot at a new spot I alway aim to shoot as if I’ll never be back, so it gives a bit or urgency when you are shooting away.

But in this case i’ll definitly be back for some more New York skyline action.

Til next time!

Chris
