Sydney City Skyline from the East

I’ve been on a bit of a quest the past few years to find the best view of the Sydney City skyline.

There’s plenty of great locations to see and photograph this great city and one day I’ll find the best.

Today’s view is from the beautiful Eastern Suburbs looking west over the city during sunrise from the high side of Queens Park.

It’s definitely a great view, especially in the early hours like this. It was taken on a pretty chilly winter’s morning around 30 minutes before the sun came up.

The morning hues add a softness to the screen and having a few lights on the buildings make for a great picture.

With the sun coming up behind me, the view is pretty much just front lit, but it would be a great picture via sunset.

So I think for the next one I’ll aim for a sunset view from here and save myself a early wake up. The view itself is pretty awesome as it’s a clear shot of the city skyline and a near perfect looking Sydney Tower right in the middle.

Just classic Sydney and after a few hours after taking this shot I’m only now starting to get the feeling back in my hands.

Note for next time, bring gloves!!

Til next time!

Lincoln’s Rock in the Blue Mountains

The story of Lincoln’s Rock is an interesting one. Named after local adventurer Lincoln Hall in 2013 who unfortunately past away in 2012. Hall is most known for having a near death experience on Mount Everest. A life well lived to now have his own rock named after him. A fitting tribute.

The famous rock is previously known as Flat Rock (it’s super flat) or Wedding Rock (due to wedding photoshoots). It has now turned into a Instagram friendly lookout. An equally impressive rock in the mountains is to be seen too, I recommend checking out Hanging Rock

I doubt when the early explorers found this place some years ago they thought it would turn into a massive tourist destination at the time. But it is now. And in the age of social media, I don’t think it will ease up anytime soon too. It is now a must see for anyone who is up for some sightseeing in the beautiful Blue Mountains.

My journey to the famous rock started at the end of Chester road in Wentworth Falls around 90 minutes outside of Sydney. And at the end of the Cul De Sac is the entrance to the national park. From there it was a pretty easy 20-30 minute walk.

Probably a little faster if you don’t check out the local wildlife and chat to the friendly bird watchers as I did tho. But that’s the best part sometimes too.

From the end of that trail you then hit the carpark. For a shorter and less interesting trip you could just park here. Another easy 200 meters following the signs you then hit the impressive Lincoln Rock.

I can see why many sightseers and tourist visit this spot. The views are just breathtaking. Even tho it was a chilly 8 degrees and I definitely regret not wearing gloves and a beanie. It was a great morning for some pictures and a view.

There was a fair few people here this day, sightseeing and taking pictures. It has turned popular as people sit on the edge of the rock for some social media views. It’s not as safe as it looks.

I’d definitely recommend staying clear of the edge as it might only be a short drop to the next ledge down, but a fall is a fall. So safety first as always.

There’s plenty of great viewpoints here at Lincoln’s Rock, and it’s hard to find a bad angle. Given the chance again I’d love to check it out at sunset. I’m sure it would be spectacular.

That’s for another day.

Til next time!

The first day of Winter hits sunny Camden, NSW

The first day of winter officially hit Sydney today with temperatures hitting a freezing 8.5 degrees in most parts, but it definitely felt more like 5 degrees earlier on.

Camden in Sydney’s south west is one of my favourite suburbs in Sydney and it’s home to my favourite streets to photograph.

And on the first day of winter it was a great place for a picture or two, as the beautiful row of trees along Camden Valley Way shows the change of seasons really well.

You can definitely feel the change of seasons now, and with it brings some more great days of exploring our city, just with a jumper or two.

Til next time!
