Bombo Rock Quarry

During the week I headed out to the Bombo Rock Quarry. It’s about an hours drive south of Sydney and just before Kiama.
Bombo is a pretty small suburb so it can be easy to drive past when you’re headed for a south coast road trip, but the detour to the awesome site is definitely worth it.
Bombo Headland Quarry Geological Site is a heritage-listed former quarry and now geological site at Bombo NSW. It is now a heritage listed site as it was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

It’s a pretty spectacular place, with a stack of great photo opportunities there. It feels like a location that would suit a Star Wars movie with desert like feel but right on the ocean.
I shot these pics during a overcast morning, which definitely added to the drama of the place. I’d love to go again and try for a dawn and sunrise shoot.
I regret not taking my tripod on the hike as I was unsure of how far it was from the Bombo carpark.
But it’s only about a 15 minute walk so next time I’ll definitely take it to try out some long exposure shots.Whit the waves cracking against the vertical wall, there is great potential for some awesome shots. If you’re in NSW at all I’d definitely add it to the list of great places to shoot.

Til next time!

Chris
