North Sydney’s perfect view of Sydney’s CBD

By far one of my favorite views of the Sydney skyline is from Cremorne Point in North Sydney. It’s a beautiful spot with such a clear view of the Sydney CBD and one that is definitely worth checking out.

It’s a rare view of the Sydney CBD, the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge all in one perfect shot. With a little bit of a high side to get a different view of the Sydney CBD than a lot of other locations that are more of a ground level view.

It is also home to one of Sydney’s best kept secrets, the picturesque MacCallum Pool seen here in a pre Covid world.

I had a great time exploring the different vantage spots from this part of the world and I’d love to go back and photograph the same spot during different times of the day just to see how it all looks. I’ll have to add a sunset shoot to my list here as I’m sure that afternoon sky would light up as only a Sydney sunset can.

For the pictures above I shot with a range on Canon lenses including a wide angle, 70-200ml and for those closer ups were with a Canon 400ml lens.

Using the 3 different lenses here gives you 3 totally different perspective of the same scene. You don’t always have the luxury of being so close to the car so it’s always worth making the most of the opportunity. Sometimes carrying all of your favorite lenses to a shoot can really suck the fun out of a good adventure, but being able to park close to your location is a massive advantage.

Til next time!

Sydney’s The Rocks Part 1

It’s been awhile since I’ve headed to the awesome and historic Sydney’s The Rocks. I should have not waited so long because I forgot how beautiful it is to photograph there. One of Sydney’s oldest sights The Rocks is just full of great photography opportunities.

With a cool mixture of old Sydney and new Sydney and some of the best views of Sydney Harbour Bridge you can find.

It’s definitely one of Sydney’s greatest locations and I’ve called this post Part 1 as I’ll most certainty be back soon for some of the awesome Autumn color as it was probably a few weeks early but come late march it should be perfect.

Til next time!

Mrs Macquarie’s Chair and the stunning views of the Sydney Opera House

I’v been on a bit of a quest latley to find the best angles of our awesome Sydney City. Today’s location was the super popular Mrs Macquarie’s Chair located at the Royal Botanic Garden, 1d Mrs Macquaries Rd, Sydney.

With just beautiful views of both the CBD and The Sydney Opera House and The Sydney Harbour Bridge. It’s just a great spot all round with some ground level views right on the water or up a little higher like the picture above.

On this side of the Sydney Harbour the Opera House is really prominent, compared to some other angles where it is a little hidden. So it’s a great spot for the Opera House in the foreground. I recently shot sunrise from pretty much opposite this here https://chasinglight.photo.blog/2021/02/09/beautiful-sydney-harbour-bridge-at-sunrise/

I was there at midday in summer, so the light is pretty harsh here, but if you waited til sunset you could get a great sunset pic view from here or during New Years Eve for some great fire work pictures.

It’s definitely one of the better views around Sydney and well worth the trip. I’ll be adding a sunset session to the list after this and hope to get a perfect Sydney sunset soon enough.

Good times anyway in our awesome city.

Til next time!
